ramblings of Sally Hayward
If your looking for a intellectual and thoughtful blog then our looking in the wrong place. This blog was not made for a huge following or a career, its just a document of my life and thoughts and not all of them will be correct or justifiable. Feel free to question and challenge my assertions though, I'm all about self improvement.

Today I woke up and my first thought was "I do not want to go to school today". But of course I got myself out of bed and followed my morning routine grudgingly. I had a feeling that this Friday was not going to be a fun and fantastic Friday because it just did not feel right. When I did get to school I met a friend and had a pleasant conversation but I'm afraid I simply complained the whole time and I feel a little terrible for being so negative, but you got to do what you got to do. It was very difficult for me to focus today in my classes consequently I became quite noisome and it would not surprise me if some of my classmates were ready to relegate me off to our rival school. I felt very inordinate today, but hey that is what lack of sleep does to a hackneyed student. I was very proud of myself for two major reasons;reason number one , even though I was uber loquacious today my classes did not become soporific untill the acme of the day. I only fell asleep once and it only took a miment to snap out of it. Well thats all for tonight. Sleep well!

TV and its effect on the world as we know it!
Television is a drug. Its not as addicting as heroine or cocaine but it can be just as destructive. For example my neighbors are constantly arguing with one another, which is perfectly normal, but their arguments never progress or conclude. For three years now they have been stuck in this sort of limbo where the all yell at each other for everyday for at least a good twenty minuets. They also have three televisions. Two huge HD in each of the family rooms and one small one in the parents room. From personal experience I know that television allows one to escape from reality for a short time. Don't misunderstand though, getting away from messy situations is important and temporally escaping is sometimes necessary. The problem I have with TV is how it never ends. There is always another "must see show" or another "classic movie" playing and there all very good and meaningful, but when does it end? When does the viewer get a chance to really step back and examine themselves. Even though television has not been proven to cause cancer or any other deadly diseases directly, the values and ideas expressed on many of today's popular shows do not encourage healthy balanced lives. Characters on these types of shows can either be ridiculously good at a mainstream and easily understood thing like signing or math, or the characters are either so pitiful that they make the viewers feel better about their own lives. this does not encourage self improvement or hard work. With out work real people can not change or achieve goals, and thus slowly their lives can slowly deteriorate. It adds to the consumption culture that we Americans live in today.
The whole reason I'm witting this is that I am addicted to television. I don't remember the last day that I haven't watched a show. Its gotten to the point where I go home to just go home and watch television. Its a gross habit and its not the kind of person I want to become. I want to fight it off but as of now I feel pretty helpless. The good news is that I don't think I can dig my hole much deeper but its going to be one hell of a whole to climb out of.

Turning 18 Woot!
Well today is my 18th birthday and I decided to do something for myself today. This blog is a birthday present to myself and also a new beginning. It seems that the older I get in age the farther away I run from the person I want to be. I want to be a brave, admirable, yet sensible person but it seems that I have become the opposite person. I want to change but I know that this change will not happen if I continue doing what I am now. This change will have to be conscious and deliberate. This sounds really depressing but this blog inst called the ramblings of a teen aged girl for no reason. Unfortunately I just might have to change it cause I am technically am adult now, but it hasn't really hit me yet.
My Birthday was not cause for great celebration even though it is my 18th. My mother is still getting on me about ACT's and SAT's its my senior year so obviously i am out of sitting time but at the same time taking a four hour test is something I really don't want to do. I know its a lame excuse but doing things well that I hate is not a gift of mine. I have never been able to act gleeful or joyful as I walk into the doctor's office to get a shot. It sucks even more that my birthday is less enjoyable by all this work. I don't even feel as if college is worth all this, I may live to regret that statement, but school has only taught me how to fall. My High School has not taught me how to use any of my gifts or develop any of my thinking. All they look for is if you follow the format. Its not about self improvement its about school improvement and it really blows. They measure "teaching" by how well students do on tests, not how much the students have improved the skills that they already posses. School is just a giant race and for those who are turtles instead of rabbits it is an unfair race from the get-go. I know that a public school system is more equal then only allowing people who can afford privet teaching to get an education but if someone thinks for a second that the public school system is fair I would demand to differ!
This has almost nothing to do with turning 18 but I really am not all that excited to be an "adult". Its just a bunch more responsibility and not much freedom. Even though I will be legal, there are still things that I will have to do here, I wont be able to just pick up and leave I will have to stay in high school if I want any chance to get a good paying job. Wow I really am complaining about everything now aren't I? I'm going to try to complain less and less as my blogs continue or at the very least make my complents be more entertaining. Oh well, until next time.
